9th Central European Diatom Meeting: 10-13th March 2015, Bremerhaven, Germany
In the name of the organizing team, I would like to cordially invite you to the 9th Central Europen Diatom Meeting which will take place 10-13. March 2015 in Bremerhaven. The meeting is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Hustedt collection (now Hustedt Diatom Study Centre). After an icebreaker / welcome drink in the evening of the 10. March, the main scientific programme will take place on the 11-12. March in the lecture room of the German Maritime Museum, located between downtown Bremerhaven and the estuary of the Weser. On the evening of the 12. March, a conference buffet will be held in the building where the Hustedt collection is also located. For the 13. March, we offer three parallel programme points from which you can chose: a bus tour of the Bremerhaven harbour, with the unique possibility to enter a container terminal; a visit in the Hustedt Centre; and a workshop on diatom image analysis held by Michael Kloster, the author of the software tool SHERPA.
As usual, we welcome both oral and poster presentations on all topics from diatom research. We particularily encourage the submission of contributions related to the focal topics of the meeting which will this time be:
- physical and digital archives in diatom research
- marine and polar diatoms
- diatom structures and applications
The main language of the meeting will be English, but with respect to the history of the conference, contributions can also be submitted in German (whether these will be presented as a separate session is dependent on how many German contributions will be submitted).
Registration fees will amount to: for payments until 15. December 2014, 80 EUR for students and accompanying persons, 100 EUR for other participants; after that, until 15. January 2015, 110 EUR for students and accompanying persons and 130 EUR for others. The deadline for registration and submission of abstracts is the 15. January 2015.
