First announcement: Workshops for the IDS
by Andrea Burfeid-Castellanos |

The International Diatom Symposium is coming closer, and we have two workshops lined up for you to participate in. It will be organized by Young ISDR, but may be open for other ISDR attendants. Both workshops would need the use of a laptop or tablet (big enough electronic device for their use in the workshops)
A bit of information before we start the registrations:
Molecular diatomology (Monday, 28th of August, 12h – 17h)
Classical workshop with presentation of the metabarcoding workflow and bioinformatic excercises. Finalising with a round table to debate problems and opportunities of the method.
Digital diatomology (Thursday, 31st of August, TBA)
Classical workshop with presentation of the use of image annotation through BIIGLE 2.0 (biigle.de) and the resulting benefits. Tutorial on BIIGLE use. Excercises with some international samples. Feedback round and presentation of UDE BioSLiDES (https://www.uni-due.de/bioslides/) as a tool for diatom identification training.
