My research interests center on the use of diatoms in paleoenvironmental reconstruction, biomonitoring, taxonomy, and life history strategies. I also co-teach the long-running Ecology and Systematics of Diatoms class at Iowa Lakeside Lab each summer. In addition to serving on the ISDR Council, I was an associate editor of Diatom Research for six years and hosted the 21st IDS in Minnesota. I’ve been a member of the ISDR since 1987, when Frank Round personally sold me on joining the brand new society!
