I work primarily in water quality research, microscopic life and diversity, areas of hot spots in global biodiversity and climate change. My research interests vary from organic and metal contaminates to fatty acids in the natural environment and algae. Research in taxonomy and systematics covers many diatom groups, using a wide selection of metrics including single cell DNA studies.

There is a hidden world of life (microscopic life) waiting to be explored. Imagine having the opportunity to make this trek in the exploration in Canada and around the world, freshwater and marine. We have a lot to learn about life from this wonderful world of the microbes and I wish to be part of the journey.
